Lang's conjectures, conjecture H, and uniformity

چکیده
We prove that Conjecture H of Caporaso et al. [CHarM], §6 together with Lang’s conjecture implies the uniformity of rational points on varieties of general type, as predicted in [CHarM]; a few applications in arithmetic and geometry are stated. As in [א], one uses the fact that rational points on X B are n-tuples of points when trying to bound n, as well as the fact that the Noetherian induction used in [CHarM] can be wired into the definitions.

Uniformity of stably integral points on elliptic
0. Introduction Let X be a variety of logarithmic general type, deened over a number eld K. Let S be a nite set of places in K and let O K;S be the ring of S-integers. Suppose that X is a model of X over Spec O K;S. As a natural generalizasion of theorems of Siegel and Faltings, It was conjectured by S. Lang and P. Vojta ((Vojta], conjecture 4.4) that the set of S-integral points X(O K;S) is no...
متن کاملSome new families of definite polynomials and the composition conjectures
The planar polynomial vector fields with a center at the origin can be written as an scalar differential equation, for example Abel equation. If the coefficients of an Abel equation satisfy the composition condition, then the Abel equation has a center at the origin. Also the composition condition is sufficient for vanishing the first order moments of the coefficients. The composition conjectur...
متن کاملLang’s Conjectures, Fibered Powers, and Uniformity
We prove that the fibered power conjecture of Caporaso et al. (Conjecture H, [CHM], §6) together with Lang’s conjecture implies the uniformity of rational points on varieties of general type, as predicted in [CHM]; a few applications on the arithmetic and geometry of curves are stated. In an opposite direction, we give counterexamples to some analogous results in positive characteristic. We sho...
متن کاملOn Certain Uniformity Properties of Curves over Function Fields
Arguing by induction on the dimension, it is easy to show that the same holds for higher dimensional base varieties, more precisely, let V be a smooth variety over C and let T be a closed subset of V . Define Fg(V, T ) as the set of non-isotrivial families of smooth curves of genus g ≥ 2 over V − T . Then Fg(V, T ) is finite. Partial motivation for the Shafarevich conjecture was that, as Parshi...

(0.0) For projective curves, there exists a fundamental dichotomy between curves of genus 0 or 1 on one side, and curves of genus 2 or more on the other side. This dichotomy appears at many levels, such as: Kodaira dimension, topology (fundamental group), hyperbolicity properties (as expressed by the Kobayashi pseudo-metric), and arithmetic geometry (see [La 1,2] and section 7 below). The objecti...
